A vast inland delta in the Kalahari, and one of Africa's great wildlife areas.
The Okavango River flows from Angola into northern Botswana and spreads out across the Kalahari to form one of the largest inland deltas in the world, a maze of channels, lagoons and islands that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It supports large numbers of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and wild dog, and more than 400 species of birds.
Camps are reached by light aircraft and offer game drives, walks and water activities by mokoro and motorboat, depending on the season and the flood. It is a natural extension to a Namibia safari, with flights linking it to Windhoek, Victoria Falls and Chobe.
