Flying between camps turns the travelling days into part of the safari: an hour over the dunes or the escarpment instead of a day on gravel, and more time where it matters. Every flight, transfer and activity is arranged; you simply arrive.
The green season is Botswana at its most alive. From about November the rains bring fresh grass, newborn impala and wildebeest, and the predators that follow them, and the birdlife is at its best with the summer migrants in. It is hot, with dramatic afternoon storms that clear quickly, and you share the concessions with far fewer vehicles than in the dry season. In the Okavango the permanent channels stay navigable all year, so the water activities carry on whatever the rain.

The route
The route runs from Kasane on the Chobe River by light aircraft into the heart of the Okavango Delta, and on to Maun at the end. The camps meet you at each airstrip; the only driving is in the game vehicles.
Flight times are approximate and schedules are confirmed the evening before. Luggage on light aircraft is limited to about 20 kg per person in soft bags.
Day by day
Arrive at Kasane Airport, where the Chobe Game Lodge team meets you for the short transfer to the lodge, the only permanent game lodge on the banks of the Chobe River inside Chobe National Park. Every room faces the river, and four river-view suites have their own plunge pool.
The Chobe Riverfront is one of Botswana's most reliable game viewing areas in any season. Explore it by electric boat, drifting past elephant, hippo and crocodile with the light on the water, and by electric game drive vehicle through the floodplains and woodland for lion, buffalo and the antelope and their young. In the green season the birdlife on the river is outstanding. Meals, local drinks and activities are included.
A light aircraft flies you from Kasane into the heart of the Okavango Delta and Camp Okavango on Nxaragha Island, in the permanent waters of the Delta. Eleven suites and a family suite look out over the channels and the floodplain.
Life here revolves around the water, which stays deep enough for boating all year. Glide through the shallows by mokoro, travel the wider channels and lagoons by motorboat, and walk the islands with your guide to learn the tracks and the plants. On a stay of three nights there is the option of a night on the sleep-out platform under the stars, and a scenic helicopter flight can be added. Meals, local drinks and activities are included.
A last morning on the water, then a light aircraft flies you to Maun for your onward flight.
