Botswana's elephant country, best seen from a boat on the Chobe River.
Chobe National Park in northern Botswana has one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Africa, especially along the Chobe River in the dry winter months, when herds come down to drink and cross. The park also takes in Savute, known for its predators, and the remote Linyanti.
The riverfront is close to Kasane, a short transfer from Victoria Falls, which makes Chobe an easy addition to a Namibia safari. Boat cruises on the river in the late afternoon are the highlight, with elephant, hippo, crocodile and huge numbers of birds.
