Red dunes, golden grass and big skies on the edge of the great Kalahari.
The Kalahari stretches from the east of Namibia into Botswana and South Africa, and its Namibian edge is a landscape of parallel red dunes covered in golden grass and camel thorn trees. It is gentler and greener than the Namib, with springbok, oryx and meerkats, and the night skies are superb.
It is often the first or last stop on a southern route, a few hours from Windhoek on the way to Sossusvlei or the Fish River Canyon. Lodges here offer nature drives, walks, sundowners on the dunes and time with San guides.
