Self-drive or guided, a day at Etosha's waterholes is safari at its simplest.
Etosha is one of the few great parks in Africa where you can do your own game drives in an ordinary vehicle on good gravel roads. You choose the waterholes, wait as long as you like and move on when the action does, which is why so many travellers love a self-drive here.
Guided drives in open safari vehicles add an expert eye and a higher vantage point, and the drives run from the rest camps are the only way to be out in the park after dark. Many of our itineraries mix the two: a guided drive in the morning and your own exploring in the afternoon.
