Hoanib Valley Camp

An intimate desert safari escape for explorers.

About

Hoanib Valley Camp at a glance

Hoanib Valley Camp is a camp of just six tents in the remote Hoanib River valley of Kaokoland, run by Natural Selection with the local communities who share the land.

It was created with desert giraffe conservation in mind, and the desert-adapted giraffe, elephant and black rhino that live along the river are the heart of a stay, along with visits to Himba and Herero communities.

Guest tents

The six guest tents sit lightly in this rugged valley. Their colours, textures and patterns are inspired by the Hoanib: the ochre of the dunes, the geometric patterns of the Himba people and the giraffe that inspired the camp.

Conservation

Built to belong here

True to the Natural Selection ethos, the camp leaves very little footprint on this fragile environment. It is entirely solar powered, and the tents stand on decks made from wood, bamboo and a composite that is 70 percent recycled material.
