Namibia's Matterhorn, a granite peak rising from the desert plains.
The Spitzkoppe is a group of granite peaks rising about 700 metres above the plains between Usakos and the coast, with its highest point at around 1,728 metres above sea level. Its sharp shape has earned it the nickname the Matterhorn of Namibia.
Around its base are natural rock arches, San rock paintings and quiet campsites, and the granite glows orange at sunrise and sunset. It is an easy stop on the drive between the coast and Damaraland.
