Namibia's great wildlife park, built around a vast white salt pan.
Etosha National Park covers more than 22,000 square kilometres of northern Namibia, around a salt pan so large it can be seen from space. In the dry season the animals gather at the waterholes along its edge, which makes game viewing here some of the easiest and most rewarding in Africa.
Elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra and great herds of springbok are regular sightings, and Etosha is one of the best places anywhere to see black rhino. You can explore it on a self-drive, with a guide from your lodge, or both, and the floodlit waterholes at the rest camps are worth an evening.
