February is one of the wettest months in much of Namibia, though wet here is relative: in Windhoek it rains on about eleven days of the month, usually as an afternoon or evening storm, and the mornings are often bright. The interior is at its greenest, with long grass, flowering shrubs and water standing in pans that are dry for most of the year.
It is one of the quietest months for travel, which is a large part of its appeal. The desert and the coast see very little rain, birding in the north is at its best, and Etosha, while harder work for big game, is lush and has plenty of young animals.
